This is why I can’t back the Israelis or Palestinians. I learned of this tragedy when I first saw the bad Newsweek conceal photo of the girls. I notion, “My God, they could be twins!” I showed it to Arab friends (none of whom are Palestinian, I admit) and Israeli friends (not particularly religious) and asked them if it was really legal how (at times) you can’t command the inequity between an Israeli and an Arab (I’d always heard that from my father) . They said yes, sometimes it can cause a jam.

I’ve read so many books on varying standpoints (left, true, center, and straight up bare bones population/religion/ethnicity stats) on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that I unbiased catch frustrated! Two girls under the age of 18 are uninteresting because of this insanity! These people need to pull their heads out of the sand and realize that the Knesset and Ramallah don’t give a damn about them! Money, power, and death is orgiastic to politicians and the wealthy- yes there are rich Palestinians living inside and out of the PA.

Did the Holocaust happen? Without a doubt! But I don’t scrutinize Israel standing up for the Darfurians or standing up for the million-plus Armenian Christians who were slaughtered by the Turks in 1917 (BTW the beloved Moshe Dayan was born in the Ottoman Empire- dhimmi!) . Israelis open cleaning your ears! As for the Palestinians, wake up! The revered Yasser Arafat and his FATAH party were dazzling well-off were they not? And isn’t his upper class-borne Palestinian Christian widow, Suha, known for her lavish lifestyle and the fact that she refused to live in the PA?

Does that disgusting wall obtain life better for anybody? Will getting land and villages abet build the Palestinians truly joyful? Do Israelis want to live under the gun? But it’s making determined people rich, while everybody else suffers. I assume this film does an splendid job is demonstrating the cultural barrier between the two societies. Avigail’s family were very Westernized, in fact they had time here in the U.S. But she can’t understand why Um can’t divulge to her without her husband Abu being prove. On the other hand, Ayat’s best friend Haifa did say that some of their school friends didn’t celebrate her as a martyr, they were slandering her. And Shadi (Ayat’s fiancee- that’s correct FIANCEE- Rachel didn’t want to date because it would interfere with school and the only contrivance a Muslim girl could have a boyfriend was to submit to a typically arranged marriage) claimed he would’ve stopped her had he known of her intentions.

I peep how attractive Jerusalem is, but none of that crosses over into the Dehesheh refugee camp where Ayat was from. I feel sympathetic to both families, and especially to the Palestinian Christian minister (and I hope he’s alright- thank you Hamas) who played mediator trying to aid Avigail understand the intricacies of the Arab-Islamic culture. But with the fresh attacks in Gaza (and the crap in Lebanon), I don’t contemplate there’s powerful hope for peace talks.

Four years ago, 17 year obsolete Rachel Levy was killed in Jerusalem by a Palestinian suicide bomber. Her mother, Avigail, has serene not found peace. Ayat al-Akhras, also 17, a schoolgirl from a Palestinian refugee camp four miles from Jerusalem was Rachel’s murderer and like Rachel, she was also 17. This is an emotionally charged documentary that explores the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the loss of the families of Rachel and Ayat and we are privy to a meeting between the two mothers and procure a contemporary reflection of the conflict as discover through the eyes of two mothers who each lost a daughter.

The documentary cements the fact that we may never ogle an slay to the conflict. We observe into the eyes of two women who have lost something very precious but we also peep into the eyes of detest and despair. The film is meant to spread awareness and bring about dialogue by having the audience to feel the residence from a very personal perspective of both sides of the dilemma. They could do this by honestly working toward the two countries living side by side in peace but to them this would be a peace of humiliation. They want their lands and their fields back–will this guarantee a apt life for them? This seems shrimp more than sentimentalism.

This is not an easy movie to examine and the opposite views of the mothers comes as no surprise. We are al fully aware that the endless cycle of death achieves nothing.

Created at least in part du to popular demand, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars will provide some closure to fans who were dismayed by the demise of the popular science fiction television show in 2003 and campaigned mightily to bring it back. Indeed, this miniseries (originally broadcast over two nights on the Sci-Fi Channel) will likely appeal primarily to the Farscape faithful, as the somewhat convoluted storyline may prove baffling to the uninitiated.

A brief bit of backstory explains how John Crichton, an astronaut from Earth, went through a wormhole and ended up on Moya, a living spaceship, with a motley group of aliens, including D’Argo (Anthony Simcoe), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), various puppet characters (designed by the Jim Henson Company), and Aeryn (Claudia Black), Crichton’s love interest, who’s expecting their first child. As The Peacekeeper Wars begins, our heroes find themselves in the middle of a war-to-end-all-wars between the lizard-like, implacably evil Scarrans and their rivals, the Peacekeepers. Crichton is the lynchpin in all of this, as his knowledge of “wormhole technology” is coveted by all, including his old nemesis Scorpius (Wayne Pygram), who captured and tortured Crichton back in season 1 and with whom Crichton must now form an uneasy alliance against the Scarrans.

Over the course of the three-hour miniseries, we get lots of weird- and cool-looking aliens, some nice sets and special effects, plenty of battles, and lots of portentous talk about the fate of the universe–nothing especially original, but all presented with outstanding production valus. There’s drama and action, love and betrayal, tragedy and triumph, war and, ultimately, peace, with a suitably spectacular ending (and a nod to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey). With a 30-minute “making of” documentary among the DVD special features, The Peacekeeper Wars is a fitting way to end the Farscape saga. –Sam Graham

Christina Ricci, as beautiful as ever, is Katrina Van Tassel, the offbeat love interest who alternately charms and frightens Crane.

The film, while occasionally gory (as one should expect from a movie about a headless horseman), is not terribly frightening, although it is suspenseful. Both Depp and Ricci are convincing, and the art direction and production valus give the village its harsh feel. Toward the end, once the secrets are revealed, the film does slow down; however, this stylistic horror film provides many tricks and even more treats. –Jenny Brown
